Men’s skincare is a tad different from women’s, so if your girlfriend has been pestering you to try her routine and it’s not working, we may be able to explain why! Typically, men’s skin can be up to 25% thicker and the texture tougher than that of a woman. Men’s skin contains more collagen which gives it a firmer appearance. In contrast to women’s skin, collagen reduces at a consistent pace over the years while women’s only begins to reduce later in life. Read on to find out the Juliette Armand: Men’s Skincare Routine for 2023!
Common skincare issues men have
Due to the higher collagen density men’s skin ages slower if you look after it properly. One of the most notable differences being if a woman uses sunscreen to prevent UV damage, she can retain her youthful-looking skin. However, if a man does not attend to his daily SPF protection, he can still look older than he is despite all the collagen in his skin.
Another difference between men and women’s skin is oil production in men is up to double that of women. Pair this with men’s larger pores, and they’re more prone to acne. With a skincare routine tailored to treat this overproduction of oils on the face, men can see a drastic improvement in their skin!
One universal struggle for men is razor bumps. When you’re going for that fresh shaved look, nothing is worse than exposing redness on your face and having to attend an event after. Razor bumps are caused by ingrown hairs that were cut short and curled back into the skin and penetrated it. This creates inflamed pimple-like bumps. A skincare product that exfoliates all the dead skin off of your face can prevent this and help achieve that now very attainable fresh shave!
What men’s skincare products do we recommend
Washing your face with soap isn’t enough to remove the impurities from our skin, not even if you’re rubbing your face red trying. Cleansers remove dirt, oil, and the top layer of dead skin cells without damaging or irritating the skin. Apply a small amount of cleanser to your hands and work into a lather before gently massaging onto your face in circular motions. Avoid your eyes and make sure you spread it to cover your forehead and chin! Do this once in the morning and once in the evening.
Exfoliation is the key to preventing ingrown hairs and dead skin from clogging up your facial pores. Twice a week using an exfoliant removes any excess oil your body has produced along with dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. After washing your face with warm water or having a warm shower, apply a grape size amount and massage into the face. This will revitalise and brighten your complexion!
Moisturiser and Sunscreen
Moisturiser is commonly known as a skincare product. Everyday you moisturise it reduces the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. Putting on moisturiser in the morning can help camouflage any skin blemishes! After you moisturise, be sure to apply some SPF products such as sunscreen. Sunscreen is to be worn all year round, not just in the summer! Regular daily use of even just SPF 15 can help prevent premature skin aging caused by the sun such as wrinkles or age spots.
A pre-made men’s skincare routine with recommended products just for you
To begin your skincare routine, you start by cleansing. You can Juliette Armand’s Cleansing Face foam or for a less bubbly experience use Juliette Armand’s Cleanser Wash. Remember, cleansing is a step you begin with for both the morning and night time routine!
Next up twice a week is treatment. This can be exfoliation, which we recommend for men’s skincare, or some acne treatment product, or a collagen-based face mask. The exfoliant we recommend is the Cacao Exfoliating cream from Juliette Armand, it smells as good as it sounds. If you’re looking for more collagen in your skincare routine, we have Azulene Calming Mask perfect for keeping your skin soothed and moisturized.
Now the part of the men’s skincare routine that is universally known: moisturizer. Important to use everyday to upkeep all the effort you put into your skin, and prevent any dryness. We recommend the Juliette Armand Extra Moisturising cream as it reinforces the moisture already found in the skin while also replenishing collagen reserves!
Finally, sunscreen is the last step of your new Juliette Armand: Men’s Skincare Routine for 2023! Our Sun Film 50 SPF Face Bliss from Juliette Armand is a non-oily antioxidant gel perfect to place on your skin after finishing your routine.
